147,000 Saudis join tourism sector in five years: HADAF’s training and employment push pays off

The initiative is driven by the Saudi Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) and its ongoing partnership with the sector. 

According to HADAF, the Fund has been working to enhance the capabilities of the national workforce by signing 19 specialized, employment-linked training agreements worth over SR851 million, targeting the training of more than 8,450 participants.

“The Human Resources Development Fund supports the development of the tourism sector through certificates, specialized training programs, and strategic partnerships, to empower national competencies and raise their skills, in order to enhance the quality of services and the sustainability of the sector in accordance with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030,” it said.

These initiatives are showing tangible results, the employment sustainability rate among those supported by the Fund in the tourism sector has risen to 75%, underscoring the quality and relevance of the training programs to the industry’s evolving needs. 

In addition, HADAF has bolstered workforce development by introducing 22 professional certifications across key tourism specializations and launching 12 dedicated e-learning courses through its Doroob platform. 

To further encourage private sector participation, the Fund has raised wage support levels for establishments in select activities, now covering up to 50% of salaries, with a maximum support of SR3,000 per month. 

The tourism sector remains one of Saudi Arabia’s fastest-growing industries under Vision 2030, and HADAF’s initiatives continue to play a pivotal role in empowering citizens and ensuring sustainable employment in this vital area of the economy.
